Grades 9-12
Percussion class is required of all percussionists and students that are new to percussion or students who played percussion previously, but decided to join band later in high school. NOTE: Percussion students are NOT required to enroll in Braves, Concert, or Symphonic band classes unless an unavoidable scheduling conflict occurs. Class sessions cover learning/honing stick and mallet technique; the 40 PAS rudiments; learning all major & relative minor scales and modes; and other fundamental percussion techniques. Students will rehearse marching band music and cadences (drumline & side ensemble); percussion parts for performance with the Braves Band, Concert Bands, and Symphonic Band; percussion en-semble music; and pep band music. All performances throughout the year are mandatory (i.e. marching band performances*, concerts, concert band festivals, and District 1 Music Festival, etc.).
